Handling Defensive Pressure

Varsity or Broke

Delaney Cullen has put a lot of time and hard work into improving her basketball skills.  The effort is beginning to pay off.  I went to watch her play against Greenbriar Middle School and I came away quite impressed.

Delaney showed great improvement as a ball handler.  When pressured with a run and jump defense as well as a diamond press, she sliced through finding the open player with diagonal passes as they received them near the basket each time.  She has shown great improvement playing the point keeping her head up and locating the open player.

Delaney's defense has also improved greatly.   She stepped up her on the ball defense.  She is using her feet with her hands to play defense.  in the game against Greenbriar, Delany showed her ability to deflect passes and get steals.

Her goal is to make varsity as a freshman. Frankly it looks like she on her way.

Bella of the Ball

I have been to several of Isabella Pecchia's games over the past month.   I've been impressed by her development.  She has played with more determination and with a sense urgency.  Bella has attacking the boards on offense and defense as well as challenging every shot in the key.

Offensively Bella is looking to carry her team taking the tough shot as well as playing through double teams.  Bella has taken it upon herself to help advance the ball against pressure.

Even if North Ridgeville has a tough year, they may have a gem in Bella!
