Our Top 15 Girl High School Basketball Teams in the Area
1. Berea-Midpark, 14-0
May have to begin their games by spotting the other team 20 points. If you can't score at least 55, then you have little chance of winning. Finishers, shooters, ball-handlers, and the best big girl in the area. See you in the regionals?
2. St. Vincent-St. Mary, 13-1
Talented, deep, athletic, tall, state bound?
3. Wadsworth, 15-0
The machine keeps winning, but we are not convinced that they are as a good as their record.
4. Solon, 12-3
Young players seem to be progressing just in time for play-offs.
5. North Royalton, 13-1
Consistent defensive pressure with a depth of guards and wings.
6. Walsh Jesuit, 11-3
If they get to runnin' watch out, a 15-0 run in under 2 minutes is a likelihood.
7. Holy Name, 11-3
Better than their record shows. Led by veteran players.
9. St. Joseph Academy, 8-4
Wins and losses go as their young guards develop.
10. Mentor, 10-3
Trying to win and develop the young talent as well.
11. Magnificat, 8-4
A tradition of winning isn't helping them through a difficult schedule.
12. Cuyahoga Heights, 15-0
Haven't really played anyone, but just wins.
13. Eastlake North, 12-1
Like Cuyahoga Heights, they just win.

Where's CiCi
Oh Where, Oh Where has my Superstar gone, Oh where, oh where can she be?
I went to the Westlake vs. Avon girls basketball game last weekend. I went to see high school star Sierra Davidson who is a highly recruited post player that has many division 1 teams wishing to have her name on their letter of intent wish list.
I was very disappointed to travel halfway across the Cleveland Metropolitan Suburban Outer Ring to see the best player in the gym watching the game like myself. Healthy, talented, and could only be sitting because of Israeli/Palestine conflict that they might need her to mediate.
If you go to an Avon game please start chanting we want CI-Ci over and over until she enters the game. Once she does, give her a standing ovation!
Here's hoping for a brighter day for CiCi and the Avon fans.

The Minutemen
The Minutemen are Coming...The Minutemen are coming. I went to watch the Massillon Jackson vs. Revere Minutemen compete recently.
Revere led by Caitlyn Vari, Camryn Brown, Alyssa Nicholas, and super frosh Emily Brock. Massillon Jackson had no answer for Caitlyn Vari who finished with 19 points, and Camryn Brown 10 points, Alyssa Nicholas 6 points, and Emily Brock 6 points also contributed mightily.
Revere had an aggressive style of play on offense and defense. Caitlyn Vari and Viktoria Farian controlled the boards, that allowed the team to push the ball in transition to get easy shots for their guards. Emily Brock who is usually a 3pt sniper, drove and dished as well as scored driving to the basket.
The uptempo style was too much for the methodical Massillon Jackson. We hope to see more of that style as well as the development of guard Emily Brock in the near future.

A Battle for Dominance
Tonight at Holy Name two of the best teams are set to do battle. Walsh being led by Lily Piper(Big East Butler University Recruit) and Holy Name led by Kim Cook(Notre Dame College Recruit) are set to do battle. The two teams have brought fans great games over the years when they compete against each other. The game is expect to be packed with spectators, despite the weather forecast.
Walsh has an aggressive style of play that fits their personnel. The Walsh Jesuit starting five through scrimmages has been dominant. This five includes Lilly Piper, Rachel Keough, Anna Hall, Chelsea Pla, and Brittany Marvin, with the main reserve Melissa Gee. They press and run with different types of pressure defenses and transition offenses.
Holy Name has been together for many seasons. They know the ins and outs of all of there schemes. Their starting five includes Kim Cook, Rachel Kucharczyk, Erica Davis, Jackie Corrigan, and Sammie Day. They present with a very methodical offense and a good man defense. This will be Jackie Corrigan's first game back since tearing her ACL last year.
Tonight everyone should get the game early, and enjoy the festivities. I will be there with popcorn ready!
